Am i allowed to have pets ?
This is a case by case basis, but a lot of owners do understand that having a pet can make you new house feel like home. And some units that don`t normally allow pets have been known to change their mind. But most if not all agencies will have a 1 time pet fee and that will cover all your pets no matter how many you`ll have.

Is it complicated to seperate trash off base ?
for a military member it only consists of separating them by what burns and what doesn burn, it just that simple. And if you have something large that you need to throw away (couch, TV, Beds ect) then just let your agency know and they will send some body to pick it up

I NEED INTERNET ASAP !
Okinawa has high speed internet easily available from ADSL to Fiber optic and wireless all the internet companies have English speaking staff, ADSL is about 1 week to install and fiber takes about 1 month but its twice as fast. But even ADSL blows anything available on base out of the water.

is there anything to watch on TV off base ?
There is only one channel off base and thats AFN channel. If you would like to keep up with state side programming then i would recommend you check out a satellite company or IP TV, IP TV has the most channels at 255 and the cover a lot of what was available back home.

How do we manage typhoons off base ?
Typhoons arent as bad at all on this island. A typhoon just means you get a few days off to clean and watch movies. It‘s very very rare to have your power go out and I have yet to lose my internet during any typhoons. The buildings are built for it. But in the event that anything happens just let your housing agency know about it they will send some body ASAP. People who get hurt during typhoons are usually doing something they shouldn`t, like going out side with an umbrella and roller-skates.

What foods are avalible off base ?
Food off base is just like back home・but with some minor differences, KFC has no mash potatoes ..but the food always looks like the picture, this applies to most if not all restaurants fast food included. Pizza is better on base because they put corn, seaweed on their pizza, but steak is countless time better off base, same goes for the sea food. And the local food has a lot of great dishes! (I recommend the ramen and the fried pork cutlets)

Is it safe to live off base ?
In this country guns and blades over 2 1/4 inches are banned. And if you are like me (from C.A.) you will be amazed how many kindergarteners walk to school. Even the fastest road except for the express way is only 37.28 miles an hour (60 kilometers)
